On my way to work I drive past a well-worn house. Not until today has my eye strayed to the upstairs window, where a tenacious vine appears to have breached the house, disappearing into the inky darkness. It puts me in mind of the awesome power of nature to overcome and return man-made things to the earth. Just as quickly, I realize there’s another perspective hiding behind the obvious: perhaps whoever lives within those walls welcomes the presence of nature inside, fueling a reconnection to the natural world. I’m grateful for such flights of perspective that allow me to challenge my own status quo thinking.
