365 Grateful: Impeccable with our word

365-02-12-2015I think Abraham Lincoln had it right. To be impeccable with your word is a pursuit worth a lifetime of effort. To plant flowers instead of thistles, to speak truth, to build up rather than tear down, to scatter kindness rather than hatred … all in the hope that it might take root in ourselves and eke out a toehold in the hearts of others. Happy birthday, Mr. Lincoln. I’m grateful for your wisdom — though spoken so long ago it still lives in hope today.
